stench pipe

I have a new house, where the stench pipe vents into the loft. It has been o.k until recently but now the smell has started drifting back into the house
( presumably because of the hot weather ) there are no blockages or broken pipes anywhere as far as i can tell.
how can i cure this?
could i drill through the outside wall and vent it to the outside.
HELP !!!

Hi Neville,

The plumbing contractor left you with a direct connection to the sewer that terminates in the attic? OUTRAGIOUS!! This vents sewer gas directly into your home. Sewer gas is harmful to your families health and the methane content makes it explosive. You shouldn't have to do anything. Your new home should be under warranty and the general contractor or the plunbing subcontractor should be responsible for bringing your home up to code. Contact them and if they give you any stactic file a complaint with both the building and health departments. This violation should have been caught by the plumbing inspector on the final inspection. Your house should never been CO'ed untill the plumbing was brought up to code. Don't wait or delay on this.
Your families health depends on it. Please keep me in the loop and let me know what transpires. Good luck, Tom
