Hi:

I read few articles about how to fix the shower drain leaks. I guess some experts suggested to use WingTite. I think the rubber gasket and the threaded top cover is what is causing the leak. The threaded holder seems a bit bigger than the hole of the shower drain itself and I don't know how WingTite can help to fix this leaks. I read their instructions but still I don't understand. The WingTite sits in the threaded container or the threaded container also need to be cut and removed? The threaded container seems to be glued in properly to the pipes below and looks like they did all this from bottom when they first installed it.

Can someone please help?

Are you attempting to install a Wingtite drain without removing all of the old drain? The Wingtite is designed to install on a bare pipe. Can you send a picture to and let me see what you have?

Thanks for your reply. This is a bit embarrassing as I sealed it off with the new rubber gasket and some silicon Adhesive Sealant and tightened the threaded top.

My question was if WingTite is to replace the entire threaded Drain and you said it has to be installed on a bare pipe -- how can I break the existing drain with out breaking the bare pipe.

To answer that I will need a picture of what you have for a shower drain. Since you mentioned glue may I assume the pipe and drain are PVC? Regards, Tom
