Slow - loud drain with air bubbles.

Asked Jul 21, 2012, 05:35 AM — 2 Answers
When I empty full sink - it flows slowly and loudly with bubbles of air coming up.

I just had a new double sink installed. Left tub is deeper than right.
Garbage disposal under left sink.
Have dishwasher hose tied to disposal.
Disposal and right sink are joined with a "T" which then drains down to elbow and then up thru the wall.

Is this the correct way to join the right and left sink to empty into one pipe?

YUP...fine in terms of double sink installation, but check the TEE fitting and make sure that the tailpiece from the sink (or disposer) isn't stubbed down so far into the fitting that it is obstructing the flow of the water...

Otherwise, could just be a clogged drain if the drain sat unused for any period of time. Here, when the sink drain sits unused the crud on the walls of the pipe can dry up and pull away from the walls of the pipe. Later, when you reinstall the pipe and use water down the drain that crud that wasn't an issue before gets wetted and can partially clog the drain...make sense? In this case, you snake the drain line.

Back to you...

Thank you Mark - but the sink and pipes were newly installed Monday. The contractor is not finished work, so wanted to report to him. I tested with a dish pan full of water in left sink and pushed down the stopper on the smaller right sink and the water pushed up into the right sink for a few seconds and slowed the draining of left sink.

I read a term "baffle tee" - what does that mean?

Thanks
