    Sinks, Tubs, and drains overflow!
    In June we purchased a 150+ year old farm house and we're just starting to get to know each other. About 3 weeks ago the 2nd floor tub was draining slow, but we really didn't think it was a big deal. A week later it clogs fully. For the past 2 weeks we've been dumping septic safe hair clog remover and professional strength clog remover to no avail. We removed the overflow mechanism and tried to snake it, but the snake only goes in about 2' and won't go any further. And yesterday we noticed when we use that bathrooms sink it backs up in the tub and vice versa. The toilet doesn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas?


    And as a bonus, it seems when we're using a lot of water on the 1st and 2nd floor it will overflow in the basement from the washing machine drain. Is there something wrong with my septic? My vents? My pipes? All of the above?

    I truly appreciate any help you can give us.

    Hey Kat,

    I would snake the bathroom drain from the roof vent. Put out enough cable to reach the base and about 15 more feet.
    For the basement problem I would open up the inspection port on the septic tank to see if it needs pumping and that the drain field is operating properly.
    If the septic system's OK I would have the washer line snaked out. Good luck, tom
