I have a single control pull-out spray kitchen faucet, the kind that pulls out of the main faucet and is activated by pushing a rubber button on the top of the handle. The sprayer stays on until I turn off the water, then it reverts to a regular flow. Lately, however, it doesn't revert, and continues to either spray or partially sprays/flows after turning it off and back on. This happens even after an extended period (i.e. I used the sprayer this morning, but even after coming home from work tonight, it's still stuck on spray.) Whatever causes it to revert to the regular flow is obviously not working, I just don't know what must be done to fix it. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! :confused: :)

Sounds like the "wand assembly" (that's what Delta calls them on their pull-out sinks; I don't know about others) is either malfunctioning due to debris caught in it (if you're lucky), or is faulty and needs to be replaced (if you're not so lucky).

If I were you, I'd try removing the wand assembly and washing it out, then letting it soak in vinegar for a while (to dissolve any lime buildup). If you need any more details (i.e. how to remove the assembly), you're going to have to give us some more details, like the brand/model of your faucet, or perhaps a picture of it. (TIP: if you don't have a camera, and you know the brand but not the model, you can try looking for an existing picture somewhere on the faucet manufacturer's website.)

The answer before mine has some very good suggestions.
Also, if your faucet is the type (like a Moen) that has screens in it, one going into the faucet itself in the hose, and another in the "head" of the faucet, these may be clogged, not allowing the pressure to "turn off" the spray.
See if you can open up the faucet, check any screens you have.
If any of this doesn't help, please post back with your faucet name and model number.

I am having the same problems as lcainokc above. It's been cleaned out and the screens check out OK. Still not reverting back to the regular flow. I'm not exactly sure the model, but it looks almost exactly like the Price Pfister Genesis (PP 53P-5) Pull-Out Spray Kitchen Faucet.

Can anyone give me a quick tutorial on how to check the wand assembly?? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just a note, I ultimately wound up getting it fixed when my handyman took care of the problem. If I remember correctly, he did as PalmMP3 suggested and the vinegar did the trick. I sold that house later that year so that was the end of that problem!
