Do residential codes typically specify 1 1/2 inch tub and 2 inch shower drains (i.e. smaller for tub than for shower)? My plumber is telling me they are different in my town... Lafayette CA. Can't lay my hands on the local code quickly.

How appropriate and adequate is 3" PVC drain for a toilet? It would solve the current issue I have with a ridge from trying to mate 4" PVC to cast iron.
