Shower handle leakes from the knob
    Hello everybody:

The house is about 15 years old. This shower has been giving me problems with the hot water first and now is leaking from the middle handle that controls the shower and the tub. My main concern is that I cannot get to the assembly to change the parts because the shower is a whole piece and I would have to ripe the whole thing off the bathroom. If anybody has some ideas about what I am trying to say, could you please replay this ad.

Sounds like you have a three handle shower valve faucet. To repair this faucet you take off the handle by unscrewing a screw in the middle of the handle. There may be a little button that you have to remove to get to the screw. Then you remove the escutcheon, which is the chrome ring that fits against the wall. You then should see to hex shaped nuts, the smaller one is for tightening the packing gland, so by using a wrench that fits the small nut turn it about a quarter of a turn then use the handle to turn the water one and see if the water still leaks out around the stem. If it does tighten it a little more. If this does not stop the leak then you need to add some packing, I use teflon tape rolled into a string, wrap it around the stem and then slip the nut back in place and tighten it up against the teflon. This should stop the water from coming out around the handle.

I recently had a shower knob break and can not find a replacement knob that fits. I've been to Lowe's and Home Depot and the knobs I buy won't fit. It's not the knob itself that doesn't fit. It's the pipe that grabs the knob is too big and won't insert. The house is a 1970s house and I need to...

How do I remove the one inside shower knob? [ 2 Answers ]

Hi: My shower is leaking, so I am trying to replace the washer, but I'm stuck! I removed the outside shower knob, but cannot remove the one inside. I loosened the screw using a long necked hex, but there looks like another Screw inside. I tried different sized hexes, but they are either...

Outdoor Spigot Knob / Handle [ 1 Answers ]

I'm getting ready to replace the knob on the outdoor hose spigot of my house. Not having done much plumbing, is there anything unusual I need to know? (ie: do I have to turn the screw right instead of left to loosen, or anything odd and plumbing-specific like that?) Any tips welcome.

Shower Knob Removal [ 2 Answers ]

I've replaced faucet washers before but never in this house (2.5 yrs in this old house). The knobs in the shower are hot and cold with the faucet in the middle for the batch. The knobs are mounted to the wall which is tiled. I removed the cap and unscrewed the screw in the middle of the knob, but...
