Shower Diverter

Hello- We have a free standing claw foot tub and installed a shower ring about a year ago. We have had problems with our shower diverter before, and it had turned out that the o ring was old. now this time after changing the o ring on the diverter ( pull up has a black little o ring and a cream somewhat circular plastic device that attaches to the pull bar) it still doesnt work. you pull it up, some water comes through on all the shower head spouts but not enough to take a shower. I would like to wash my hair just wondering if anyone knew a quick fix before going to the hardware store to see if anyone else knows, thanks for any answers!!

T

Are we talking about a diverter spout or a diverter in the valve body? Tom
