shallow well pump

it will build pressure but as soon as it shuts off at 38lbs. it drops to 18lbs. in about 1min

Two things would cause this. 1) A leak on the pressure side**or**2) a falty check valve that isn't closing right away. My bet's on door #2. Good luck, Tom
