Septic was empty now full of water
Yesturday I had our septic tank pumped out. We have only been here 2 years but we knoew it had been a while since it was dune. Boy were we right the gentlemen said it was very very thick. Okay he cleaned it out. Now today my toilet is not working right when you plunge it nothing comes up after a few time it goes down very fast . So my husband went out saide and dug up the septic lid when he opened it it was full of rain water. Is this normal or do we need to redrain things.

Sounds like your drain fields are not working.

What happens is when the water goes to the septic there are lines going from the septic underground out into the yard, over the years they will get roots, fall in and stop up, esp if a lot of sluge gets into the field lines

The sludge is suppose to fall and stay in the bottom and the "clearer water" is on top, there is a baffle between the tank and the field lines, that keeps the sludge from getting into the lines, as long as the sludge does not get all the way to the top.

So the fact it is already full it shows that either you don't have enough field lines or there is not enough working lines.

You need to have them take alook at your septic, since also the baffles may have broken down, esp if this is a concrete unit. If the baffles broke down they will need to rebuid the baffles. But it is very possible you are going to have to put in new field lines, for that you will have to call the county septic insector and have him determine how many feet of line you have to have, and he will also mark off where the lines have to go.
