When installing a saddle valve should you pierce the water line in front or behind the water shut off?

always provide yourself with a way to shut off the water if something goes wrong. at our company we always put the saddle valve after the last gate or ball valve. good luck

for forever and 20 minutes a saddle valve was illegal. a year ago georgia changed from the sbcc [southern building code congress] to the ipc [international plumbing code] and now a saddle valve is legal. many use them, i will not.
