    Replacing an old bathtub faucet
    Hello, as you will quickly tell I know nothing about plubming. That's why I'm here. Apparently I have a very old bathtub with a non-NPT faucet that needs to be replaced. When I remove the old one, there is simply the non-threaded water pipe sticking out of the wall. Would like to replace it with a faucet that also has a diverter connection. Can't find this anywhere. Ideas?

    I think you opening statement may be more true than you thought, even the spelling part.

    I am going to guess at a few things and then you are going to have to respond and tell me more. You say you have a faucet that needs to be replaced, by faucet are you indicating the spout where the water comes out or are you talking about the entire faucet, spout, handles, stems and all plus the body that is in the wall. I feel that you mean just the spout that the water comes out of. But I don't know what you mean about the diverter connection. Do you already have a shower head up on the wall, if so how did you get the water to go up to the shower and not all come out of the spout.

    If you had a spout with a diverter, then why don't you just buy one like it to replace the old one.

    Tell me more about what your plans are and what you have and I will try to help.

    Hi all:

    My guess is that Kalinik wants to add a hand-held shower...

    Here, you will want to purchase a tub spout with diverter with a threaded side-outlet... see picture. You will also want to purchase the hose, the hand-held shower handle/head and something to hold the shower handle/head to the wall.

    Depending on the model chosen you may need to solder a MALE adapter onto the copper pipe that is sticking out from the wall, but first you need to locate this tub spout. It is available at most plumbing supply stores. Otherwise, you need to order online.
