Hello, as you will quickly tell I know nothing about plubming. That's why I'm here. Apparently I have a very old bathtub with a non-NPT faucet that needs to be replaced. When I remove the old one, there is simply the non-threaded water pipe sticking out of the wall. Would like to replace it...

I am trying to replace a single handle bathtub faucet because of leaking. I got the crystal handle off but the round base ring has been partially stripped. We have really hard water. How can I get this off? And to you go left or right to undo it.
