Removing handle from a Moen single-handle shower
The shower is dripping and I am trying to get to the stem by removing the handle. I can see a set screw recessed into the bottom of the handle. I have tried an allen wrench but bent it without any success.

That's how to get it off. Squirt some WD-40 in the hole and let it work for a while and try again. If that fails, drill it out and replace the handle or retap it.

    Good luck, Tom

Removing Moen handle - part 2
Had to drill it out, but the handle still won't come off. Seems there's something on the top side of the handle holding it on, opposite of the set screw hole. What now?

The stem has a spline that the handle fits into that may be holding it. Did you load it up with WD40?
I know of no other retaining screw on the upper part of the handle. See if you can get two screwdrivers behind it and pry it out. Good luck, Tom

The allen screw goes all the way in. you have not completely drilled it out. When it turns on, does it pull out to turn on or only turn right to left?

    Hello Voilunteer2007, Speedball1 and others

I have the same problem after drilling out the set screw. The Moen handle won't come off. Could you please shed some light on how you were able to get the handle out finally? The drill bit(3/32 followed by 7/64) was more than an inch inside and that leads me believe the set crew is dilled out completely(?)
