pvc pipe size per code

I have a 1982 double wide cavco that sits above ground. I had a slow drainage problem in the tub and shower. I called the plumber out, actually three of them worked on the issue, and was not resolved. The supervisor explained that after trying for four hours, they were going to call it quits. He also added that my pvc was not up to code and that it should be 2 inch minimum. Is this true or was he fed up with the task. He told me that it was only 1.5 inches and thats why they couldn't get to it. I am disputing the bills that I was handed until I can figure out if my home is in fact plumbed incorectly. I dont know how long the home has been there or who set it up. I have contacted Cavco and they were not too much helpful either.....please help.....

Has the tub ever drained properly?
In my area are many trailer factorys. In the 70's when construction fell off I worked as a plumber in them. All of our sink, lavatory and tub drains were 1 1/2" at that time and we had no complaints. In defense of the plumbers and their boss we use 2" drains now and most local codes will mandate 2" for a tub drain. However this code doesn't touch your moble home. Sounds like they were just trying to get out of a job that was taking too long. Can you describe what the plumbers did and what pipes they sent their snake down?
If you have a hand held snake I could walk you through the process of snaking the tub drain line. Just think of the leverage you'd have in disputing the bill if you could clear the drain when 4 plumbers couldn't.
Let me know, regards, Tom
