    Pump losing pressure (well water)
Hi. I have lost the water supply to my house. I have a pump for well water. The tank seems to be empty and I tried resetting the pump but it will not respond. The gauge reads at zero now.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

    Hey Dude,

Did you prime the pump? Does it even run? Give us some details to work with. Regards, Tom

    Hi.
An update - the pump is now working. The same thing happened a few times now a week or so apart (i.e. the water pressure would drop to zero in the house, I would try to restart the pump by holding in on the pressure switch but the pressure would not return). I waited though apprx 1 hour and then when I held in on the pressure switch the water did return to the pump, back up to the appropriate pressure. What could be causing this?

The question is why the pump is not coming on when you activait the switch and also why do you have to hit the switch First let us look at the why do I have to hit the switch
Let us look at the switch first is it stuck inside no repair possible replace switch, next look at the 1/4 inch diameter pipe from the switch to the well supply usually around six inches long this pipe is easey pluged up clean or replace hope this helps...

    I agree with Denver,

It could be as simple as shining the contacts in the control box or a clogged line that activates it. Both are worth checking. If the copper line from the pump to the control box is clear and cleaning the contacts didn't help I would replace the control box. Good luck, Tom

Water Pump Losing Pressure [ 2 Answers ]

My water pump (3/4 HP), which is at least 5-10 year old has lost the ability to retain pressure. I draw water...

Hi all... my sprinkler pump is losing its prime on a daily basis. I have a newly sodded lawn and need to water daily. Could it be the check valve causing this? The check valve has been rattling lately when the sprinklers are on. If anyone has any ideas they would be appreciated. THanks.
