Placement of AAV

Long story short our kitchen sink in our house needs an AAV as a result of a renovation. My question is to the exact location of the AAV downstream from the p-trap. Thankyou in advance for any advice.

RMH

Option 1. Place it ontop of the "T"

Hi RMH:

The AAV should be located within a few feet of the p-trap. It can be piped on the horizontal at least 6-12" above the pipe (picture 1 on left), or it can be on top of the vertical pipe above the ptrap (picture 2 on right). The AAV must remain accessible in case it needs to be changed in the future.

Let me know if need more...

Hi Dennis...

NO...AAVs are NOT allowed in Massachusetts residentially or commercially.

You can appeal to the local plumbing inspector for a variance, but I have only seen 1 approved in 26 years!

Let us know if need more here...
