We have no water throughout the house while at the same time the toilet in the master bath keeps running. The tank is full but it just keeps right on running. This happened before and when the toilet quit running the water came back to the rest of the house. Help

Are you saying the tanks overflowing? How old is your house? What material are the pipes? Pump or city water? Does opening up any other faucet cause the entire system to lose pressure? Let me know, Tom

Thank you for the quick response. The tank is not overflowing, the excess is just running into the bowl and if you go under the house you can hear the water running through the septic line. Age of home is over 20 years. Not sure about the pipe material underneath the house but the line the feeds the toilet is pvc. We have city water. Nothing else seems to cause us to lose pressure other than the toilet. We live in a double wide and none of the water lines have shut off valves but I did go outside and turned off the water valve under the house (not the valve at the meter) and still the toilet is running. When the valve is open you can hear the sound of water and at times a whistling sound. This is like the fourth time this has happened and usually clears up after a while but this time it has lasted 24 hours.

Of course the tank's overflowing. It's overflowing into the white overflow tube,(see image) into the bowl and out into the septic line.
The solution would be to adjust the tank level. What ballcock do you have? (see image). Back to you, Tom

We have the setup in the second photo.
I have tried adjusting it with no change.
We can replace the toilet but I just cannot understand why this would cause us to lose pressure throughout the rest of the house or why when the outside vavle is shut off would water still be running into the toilet.

What "outside valve" are you talking about?: The house shut off? If so then the valve's faulty. Don't need to replace the toilet. Can you pull up on the float and stop the water? And how about answering my questions! Tom

Toilet running is cuased by bad fill valve which Tom showed you. Toilet running with main water shut off means a bad main shutoff valve. Toilet running taking pressure away from other fixtures means lack of volume, maybe the main shut off vavle. Please answer all of Toms questions, and maybe even add a little more info and we will do our best to help you out. Good luck and please let us know how things work out.

Yes, the shut off under the house. The water does not stop when I raise the float. I don't know what questions you are telling me to answer as I have answered them all.
I am fairly intelligent and I have tried everything that I can think of with no change. My husband will be back in town tonight and we will be replacing the outside shut off valve and putting a shut off valve on the toilet and then see where we stand.
I was mainly wanting some idea as to how a continually running toilet would cause the rest of the house to lose pressure.

Good idea to replace main shut off to house, and toilet fill vavle. As far as a running toilet causing low pressure in other fixtures, you have a water volume problem. Replacing main shut off vavle may cure this( as I am thinking vavle is not turning on completely). Have you ever been in the shower when someone flushes the toilet and you get a burst of hot water? If so, this is also a lack of water volume to the house. Its really hard to diagnose this problem without being there to do some hands on tests. We really want to help. Please let us know how things work after main valve and toilet valve are fixed. Good luck.

No... we purchased the replacement kit but haven't installed it yet. So far everything is working fine. We will keep the kit just in case we need it.
