No water getting to toilet tank
Toilet tank isn't fillng.. valve is open, not noises, nothing. There is water in the sinks before and after the toilet along the water pipes of the house.. only problem with one toilet... I'm renting this house - tenants broke the top of the tank so the tank is uncovered.

First close the angle valve and disconnect the supply line at the angle valve, place a container under the angle valve and open the valve slowly see if the water is coming out, Thanks.

It's rental property & I'm not there now but the tank was empty and when I opened the valve, no water from anywhere. Do I need to write this down and drive over there?

This would be a FluiudMaster Ballcock. We have had problems with the opening in the seal closing up and not allowing water to pass. Purchase a FluidNaster # 242 Replacement Seal,(see image). To replace it you will have to shut the water off to the tank and take the tank lid off. Twist the top of the ballcock off counterclockwise, (see image , ) and pull up. Pry out the seal and replace it. Reassemble, turn the water back on and give it a flush. Better now? Good luck and thank you for rating my answer. Tom

Tom is correct, it can be the seal or the fill valve, and it was my second instruction I still stick with checking the angle valve first to see it works if that is OK, then follow Tom's instructions, the fluid master fill valve cheap and easy to replace, see the images, good luck.

I have had 2 houses with this problem. In both cases it was the inlet valve, near the floor. I didn't replace the whole thing, just the knob. Don't forget to turn off the water to the house.
