No hot water pressure/hot water after turning main water off/on and draining water
I turned the main water off to our home to remove our water softener and ran the water in the kitchen and both bathrooms until no water came out. Now there is no hot water pressure or hot water at all sinks after turning the main water back on, but there is normal cold water and cold water pressure. I thought the hot water tank refilled overnight, but still no pressure/hot water. I have tried flushing the hot water heater this a.m. I tried to run the hot water from the kitchen as the water heater manual suggests to do this to see if the water heater is full. Please help me trouble shoot and fix this problem. Thanks.

You drained the hot water tank to remove a water softener? Is it a gas or electric heater? Did the tank fill?
Have you got hot water anywhere in the house? Let me know. Tom

I thought I had to drain the water in the house to remove the water softener. The water heater is a gas heater. I am having trouble knowing if the water heater reservoir is full. How do you know if the water heater is full? Just now, hot water gives good pressure for 2 seconds only, then reduces to a trickle and was getting warm, but I turned the pilot light off because I can't tell if the water heater is full and we only get a trickle. The manual states that when you get a full stream, the water heater is full. We do not have that on the hot water side only.

You open up a hot water faucet. If air comes out you leave it open until you get water. If you get water right away then your tank's filled.
Are all your hot water taps affected? Let me know, Tom

Yes, all the hot water taps. I released the pressure valve till the water came out. Then ran the hot water in the far tub. It ran for little while, but as I increased the hot demand, the pressure decreased. The sinks still trickle hot.
