I finished my basement and the home was plumbed for a full batch. I have a 4" pipe coming up through the concrete floor for the toilet. The flooring has been laid up and around the pvc pipe. First, do I need a 4" flange for the toilet? Second, how far down do I cut the pipe coming up through the floor? Does it need to be level with the flooring? Is there an easy tool to use to cut the pipe? Lastly, how do I drill the flange into the concrete floor?

1) yes you will need a 4" PVC flange.
2) you will cut the pipe off even with the flange after you have primed and glued both the pipe and the flange together.
3) We use a hacksaw to cut the pipe.
4) You don't need to secure the flange to the cement floor with screws. The concrete will hold the pipe and the flange in place.
On another note, I hope the plumber left a styrofoam closet wrapper around the pipe where it came up out of the cement. If he didn't you will have to chisel out a opening for the collar of the closet flange, (see image) to recess into. Good luck Tom
