New shower arm installation.

I am installing a new shower arm. It screws into a cpvc fitting in the wall and I can't rotate it so it faces downward when it bottoms out inside the fitting. I added an extra layer of teflon tape but it still faces upward. How many layers of teflon tape can I add. I have used 3 layers so far. I am afraid it will leak unless I snug the shower arm fairly tight but the arm faces upward and not downward when snug. Any help is appreciated.

Marty

Hi Marty....

That shower arm isn't under extreme pressure at any time so you should be just fine. If you were to overtighten and crack the fitting behind the wall...well, as you can imagine, that would be a major issue!!

As long as the shower arm feels tight you'll be fine!
