New Delta shower cartridge. Water not hot enough.
    Hello.

I have a Monitor 1300/1400 series Delta shower.

I replaced the cartridge today, and it's just not getting hot enough. It's not nearly as hot as the tub a few feet away. I've adjusted the temperature limiter all the way to the hot side, and I've even removed it completely. With the handle turned all the way to the left, even with no limiter, the shower is not very hot.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!
    Steve.

Ok, I'm going to give my best answer to my own question: The delta cartridge has changed such that scalding hot water is not possible, regardless of the limiter. I compared the old cartridge (circa 1999?) to the new one. The stem on the old one, without the limiter, travels about 270 degrees from coldest to hottest. The stem on the new cartridge travels less than 180 degrees, maybe 160 or so. I believe Delta has reduced the amount of rotation to further prevent scalding.

As for my shower, it's hot enough. I guess I can get used to not being scalded. :-)

If anyone has any other suggestions, please advise! Thank you as always for your help!

    Bump.

I have the same issue. Its warm, but not hot enough for my bride who likes a steamy shower.

The original cartridge was installed in 2000, the replacement in 2013, I'm assuming it was regulated to reduce risk of burning. Probably a Clinton era mandate, I think.

I would first remove the Temperature Limiter completely and run hot water without it. It is possible the Limiter is not lining up correctly giving you incorrect read out... Then, let hot water run for couple of minutes to see if hot water arrives at the shower head... Also, remember, the colder it gets, the longer it gets for hot water to arrive at your shower... Back to you... Milo

If you still have your old cartridge you can take it apart and replace both sets of seats and springs and put it back in
