Moen Handle Won't Stay Tight

I have a MOEN single handle tub/shower faucet model 82000/2300. No matter how tight I try to get the set screw for the handle, within a couple of weeks it starts to loosen. I have had this problem since it was installed about 6 yrs ago. Is there anything I can do to keep it from working loose so soon? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Try the manufacturer, to see if it's warranty covered.

If it's a large screw, you might try some teflon tape.

If not, Loctite 222. Harley-Davidson: Loctite® Threadlocker® / Loctite 222 MS Thread Lock and Sealant - Purple, Silicone Sealers Threadlockers, 99811-97

Don't use any other number, otherwise you might end up using a torch to remove it. This is a low strenght threadlocker. This is the preferred method.

Well that just shouldn't be. Is the handle tight when you first tighten the set screw? Remove the handle and then tighten the set screw to see how far the screw goes in. Make sure that it will go in far enought to grip cartrige shaft. Should probably be able to screw it all the way through. Does screw feel right as you turn it? Maybe someone lost origanal and replace with wrong one. Are you sure you have correct handle maybe someone switched on you. Contact Moem. You will probably get new handle.

Yes, the handle is tight, but loosens after a few uses. I am the original owner, so nothing has been changed or switched since installation. Thanks for the suggestions. I will contact Moen.

De ja vu. I make the suggestions and someone else gets credit. Story of my life. I'm used to it. Not the first time on AMHD either. Oh well.

You did that on purpose, right? Look up about 4 posts.

Today is a special day. One of those ones to celebrate.

Sorry...did not mean to crush egos...just needed an answer and actually took your suggestion but answered the most recent since they asked questions. I'm new here, and certainly don't feel all that welcome now. Won't happen again.

Hey, it's not your fault. I didn't mean to offend you. I can easily do that. I'm not the most politically correct person in the world. It's just today was my b-day and there have been a few instances, some unclear, today and recently. I'm not feeling well because of a migraine and my judgement tends to get a little faulty.

bb and hk and I are the best of buddies. bb and I came up with identical solutions, so did hk and I except hk expressed it better. I don't mind being made aware of your feelings.
We're all guilty of not carefully reading sometimes.

Welcome to the board and let us know which option worked. Compared to other forums, this is a nice place to hang out. Sorry.

I'm not aware of any crushed egos.

KISS

I'm sooo confused!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KISS

Kathy.

Please don't take offense or let this prevent you from using the site. I sure its just one of those things when we forget that tone and faical expressions don't convey across the internet. Its also a little bit male humor. In other words we are sometimes a little strange.

Please come back.

Footnote: Look around the hold that the set screw is in, bet you find a crack between the hole and the edge of the handle.
