garbage disposal

I have never had a problem running my garbage disposal before until I replaced it with a bigger and better one. Now my disposal backs up, and when I run the disposal, it backs up into the adjoining sink! please help!!

Hi Mom,

Sounds like you have a clog in the lateral, (horizontal ) pipe in the wall, the solution is to snake out the line. Remove the "J" bend from the trap and send a snake up the open pipe into the wall. You will hit a elbo about 6 or 8 inches in and from there it's a clear shot for about 5 more feet. After you snake and clear the line run a sink full of hot water to flush it out. Good luck, Tom
