I recently installed a new faucet in the kitchen and the cold water doesnt work. I have an older home and it doesnt have any shut off under the sink. I have to unplug the water pump in the garage to stop the water pressure. I replaced the flexible water lines to the new faucet. The hot water is fine, but no cold. I took the flexible line off and turned the pump back on and no cold water pressure, it just trickles. On the other side of the wall under the sink is the water line to the washer, it works fine, so i figure it must be from the wall in the garage to the sink, only about a foot of pipe. Any ideas of what to do?

Before I tell you what to do let me tell you what happened. when you installed the faucet you disturbed some minerals built up in the pipe walls. When you tested the faucet the crud got sucked up into the faucet and is now clogging the inlet ports of the faucet cartridge. The solution is to shut off the pump, bleed the pressure off, open up the faucet and check and clean the inlet ports on the cartridge. Before you reassemble the faucet turn the pump back on and flush out the supplies. Good luck, Tom

The problem I think is not in the faucet because i bought a new faucet and the cold doesnt work on the new faucet either. It must be in the water pipe coming from the garage. Nothing comes out of the pipe when i remove the supply line. It seems like the "clog" is in the copper pipe coming from the wall.

Sounds like you're correct in assuming the problem's in the supply line. do you have a shut off on the cold water pipe coming out of the wall? If so shut the water off at the house shut off and remove the valve if it's a compression connection. Then place a pan in front of the open line and turn the water on for a moment. Did you get cold water out of the open pipe? If so clean the crud out of the shut off and reassemble. Do you have pressure now? Regards, Tom

Thank you for your help. I finally cut the copper pipe and found what looks like a paper towel or some kind of paper in the elbow. I have lived in this house for 48 years and have no idea how it got in there. I have never removed the pipes under the sink. Anyway all is working well now. Thanks again.
