    Low pressure cut-off switch problem
My well occasionally runs dry, so I recently replaced my pressure switch with a Square D switch with the low pressure cut-off to protect the pump. It is set for a 40-60 psi range (same as the old one). Now about half the time, when when it reaches the 40 psi cut-in, the pressure suddenly drops low enough that it cuts off the pump before it can start. The well is not dry because I can manually reset it and it comes right back on. My pressure tank seems OK and is holding 38psi.

It is driving me crazy. Any suggestions?

The point is a screen at the bottom of your well that could be plugged, usually someone would have to be called in unless you know someone that could pull it and clean it for you

Jonah, check to be sure your tank pressure is correct. It should be set to 38# while drained.. Some people try to set it when it's under pressure, which is useless.

Not sure how a clogged screen could cause these problems.
