    Loud banging noise
When we turn off the kitchen faucet there is a banging sound in the basement. It only happens with this faucet and it just started. If we take time and not shut it off like we normally do, it doesn't make the noise. What do I do?

You have "water hammer". If your house was built later then the 60's we installed air chambers on kitchen sinks. They load up with condensate and need to be recharged. Let me show you how. Shut the water off at the house shut off. With a small pail held under the angle stop, under the sink, to catch the run off look under the handle of the stop and you will see a nut with the stem running through it. This is called the bonnet packing nut. Put your wrench on it and back it off counterclockwise. Now open the stop and remove the stem and washer assembly, The stop will began to drain. When it has quit draining reassemble the stop and move on to the next one. Do this on each one of your angle stops. After the stops are reassembled turn the water back on. Things a little less nosey now? Good luck, Tom
