We are in the process of remodeling our basement bathroom/shower. We have the whole thing gutted and can see where the cold water pipes come into our house. We want to fix the problem we have of when taking a shower, no one can use any hot water because the shower momentarily gets cold. Once the hot water from the other location is turned off, the hot water in the shower becomes hot again.

We have a newer 50 gallon, natural gas tank and 2.5 baths. When we are finished with the remodeling of the basement bathroom, we would like to be able to use the hot water in the basement, without making the hot water in the shower momentarily turns cold.

Could you tell me what size pipe runs from the heater to your shower? Who installed your new heater? Back to you.

Hi Rob,

This is a volume problem, pure and simple. Someting is clogging your pipes, (mineral build up?) to the point of not supplying enough water to run two fixtures. How old and what material are your pipes made of? You may have to consider a repipe job. Regards, Tom
