I'm doing a remodel of my laundry room, I would like to lose the utility sink and the washer line that drains into it. I would like to go with a sink that is mounted in a counter.
I don't think i can put in a laundry stand pipe because the drain pipe is 1.5 inch. do you need 2 inche drain lines for a laundry stand pipe? I can't change the size of the pipe, it goes
into a concrete floor. Are there any other options? I know they make a trap with a fitting for dishwashers but not washing machines.

Let me see if I understand: you have 1 sink with w/m draining into it. Now you wanna have in-counter sink and separate drain for w/m?

Anyways: Yes, w/m drain and stand pipe should be 2". However, in old houses, they have 1 1/2" drains and traps with special stand pipe attached to that trap that starts 1 1/2" and expands to 2".

You could split the 1 1/2" drain, one end going into sink and other one going to w/m. However, you may have drainage problem....

In my area we still see all kinds of homes using 1.5" for their washing machine and utility sink drains and they are having very few issues...

Although 2" is ideal, you should be fine piping up the sink 1.5" and then installing a separate 1.5" laundry trap with 30" standpipe as you would like to do.

Just be sure that both fixtures get properly vented. I have attached an image showing how to pipe this up so the sink gets a vent and the washing machine drain also gets vented properly....fixtures are in the other room so you see the back side here.

If you can't connect the new laundry drain pipe back into its own vent then you may be able to use an air admittance valve (AAV...see picture) to get this done! These must remain in the open or can be installed behind an access panel if necessary. If you use this for the sink drain it can be installed under the cabinet.

I guess i will check with the town and see what the code is.

The above picture is the the setup. The line coming in from the right is a drain line for a bar sink. Can any one tell me the correct way to hook in the stand pipe.

You actually have 2" pipe coming up from the slab. As you can see, it is reduced on top of the upper 45 bend with bushing into 1 1/2" pipe.

You can cut out the upper 45 in between the 2 - 45s. Cut it exactly in the middle of that short piece of 2" pipe that connects those two. Now, insert new 2" - 45, new short piece of 2" pipe and glue in 2"x2"x2" x 1 1/2" sanitary T as per enclosed drawing. Reconnect vent and run your dirt arms to the Left and Right to drain your sink and w/m. For sink (right side), you can reduce to 1 1/2". Leave 2" for w/m. Install 2" trap and 36" high - 2" stand pipe

I have a question about Milo's setup. I was a little bit lost. I don't know the expression "dirt arms. also i wanted to go to the right with the laundry stand pipe. would this setup be right.
