Kitchen sink sprayer is making a whistling sound.
My kitchen sink sprayer makes a loud whistling sound when I use it. It just started about a month ago. It's such an obnoxious sound that I'm finding myself wanting to just not use it at all. I'd like to know if there's a way that I can fix this myself, and if so, I'd like the easiest steps possible to follow, as I'm not exactly good at home projects other than making things look pretty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Unscrew the spray head from the hose. Turn on the faucet to flush out the hose. Does it still make a noise with the spray head removed? Back to you. Tom

Ok... I unscrewed the little black spray gun thing and let the water run for about three minutes. The entire time that it ran, the whistling noise was occurring (as the water ran).
When I put the "spray gun" back on and turned on the sink, it was the same... no noise when I just used the regular faucet, but whistling when I pressed the spray gun.

In advance... I'd like to say thank you for even bothering to help me... whether we figure it out or not, I really DO appreciate all your help and your time. :)

    OK Kimberly,

If the noise was present with the spray head removed while the water was running we have just eliminated the spray head as the culprit and this leaves the diverter that's vibrating as the water rushes past it. The diverter's located under the spout in the valve body. To tell you more I will need the brand name of the faucet and its type, one handle or two knobs. Regards, Tom
