    Kitchen Sink/Disposal Filling with Water
I have about a half inch of standing water in the bottom of my kitchen sink. When I run the disposal it empties, but it immediately refills to the same level once the disposal is shut off. Any ideas what is going?

Single. The disposal will drain it even if clogged? I'll try plunging.

Yes, the disposal will power it down... a whole sink full sometimes (just going up the vent) and then just flows back into sink.

Clearly, drain line clogged. Try plunging... let us know what happens. Will need to access pipes from underneath if this does not work.. ok? At next post, let us know pipe type and size ofpipes... ok? Talk soon... Mark

Looks like that did it. Although it still seems slow to drain. I don't know anything about pipes (could you tell?) so I'm afraid I can't asnwer your other questions.

Thanks for the help. I may replace the whole sink. I've been wanting to for a while anyway.

Fill sink and then plunge again as draining. Hopefully that will increase flow abit more. Take care, now... Mark

No water in kitchen sink [ 6 Answers ]

I was washing dishes last week when I suddenly lost all hot and cold water from the kitchen sink. The spray attached to the faucet works, but hardly any water comes out when I just open the faucets (two handles). There also appears to be no water getting to the dishwasher adjacent to the sink, but...
