Kitchen Faucet - no hot water

I have a new (one month old) American Standard, single control kitchen pull-out faucet (6310 series). It was great for the first month, but now there is no hot water. I know the problem is not the hot water line as my dishwasher, which is hoocked up to the same line, is working just fine. I took the entire thing apart and can find no obstructions. The cartridges and such are not clogged - they still look brand new.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi MM:

This is all about a process of elimination...as I am sure you are discovering...

You said cartridges...? Single handle has one cartridge...right?? You would be amazed at what clogs one of these single handle cartridges!!

You did remove the aerator at the end of the spout and check to make sure that isn't clogged...right??

I would remove the cartridge and then I would PULSE the hot and then the cold water (rag over valve body while pulsing water on). If you get water out hot side and then water out cold side...then issue is in the cartridge.

If no water at either hot or cold or both, then need to work your way lower...

I would check out the flexible connectors next. Disconnect each, one at a time and DIRECT the connector into a bucket and turn on water and see how flow looks. If flow poor...may need to replace...OR...

May need to check the shutoff just below the connector...etc.

Sounds like issue is up in the valve itself. Start at beginning of the known (water at dishwasher OK...work your way out from there....shutoff next, flexible connector, valve body, cartridge....)...OR...

Can work backwards from the cartridge....whatever you are comfortable with...

If valve body itself clogged (water from below, but not from above when cartridges out) may even need to use a vacuum to suck any debris back out of valve from underneath...but that is vary rare..but never know...

Let me know what you think....glad to help....MARK

Thanks for the help. I think I have tried most of those. When the lever is turned to the cold position (right), it comes out beautifully. When I turn it to the hot position (left), nothing. Not even a drop. So, that eliminates problems with any passage that both hot and cold water share. So, I've narrowed it down to the hot water. The hoses are new and came (pre-attached) to the faucet. And the hot water hose is not kinked or pinched. I know water is coming out of the line because if I remove the hose (where it attaches to the water line), and turn the water on (like I acidentally did today) hot water flows rapidly. And, as mentioned previously, the dishwasher gets hot water with no problem.

Hi Everyone...

Thanks for positive words FBE!!

Hey MM...did you remove the cartridge AGAIN and confirm hot water is getting up into the body of the valve...??? If it is, then cartridge is the issue (not the shared, but the separate pathway).

If not, then riser connected to faucet underneath is issue. Here, set a vacuum on and try to suck back any debris/sediment that may have gotten into the line.

That's it...let me know...MARK
