| Tom,
I can't identify the type of old shower base I have. I want to use it in the new shower in the basement but the problem of sealing the area around the drain pipe will be what decides that.
The drain pipe I installed in the basement floor will protrude through the shower pan drain opening and will be level with the shower pan floor. There is at least an inch of space around the drain pipe that has to be sealed and as I said before, it appeared to be a very hard rubber substance when it was in my upstairs shower. It didn't appear to me to be something that could have been slipped down around the pipe. It filled this void around the drain pipe and up to the lip of the pipe, ensuring that the water went down the drain. Sorry I can't be of any more help in identifying this old shower pan.
