    How to drain water from yard and legally drain sump pump
    I have a field behind me filled with water.another one to my north side also filled with water and my house sits higher than the said fields.the water sits within 10 feet of my attached garage on north side of house.the water sits about 30 feet in field on the west side of house.I don't have a ditch but have a shallow ditch line with a sewer drain but its also full.my sump pump is routed to drain out my septic tank but its full and as soon as pump kicks on too much water just pushes through pipe in basement.is there any thing I can do for this like re routing sump pump draining?

    First a few questions. Who owns the fields around you that are under water? With all this wet ground where's your drain field located? If you could dig a trench out of these fields would there be any place to drain them?

    I guess you've already figured out that that's a bad idea and not good practice.
    .is there any thing I can do for this like re routing sump pump draining?
    There is but it will take dry ground to make it happen. There is a dry well that you can build yourself.(see image) That well drain your sump pump but if the fields aren't a swamp and it's simply surface water I'd be looking for a way to drain them. Good luck, Tom
