What does the faucet look like and how do you turn the faucet on. If it is a single handle faucet do you pull straight up to turn it on and then turn the handle from right to left to change the water temperature?
If the above is true then this may be the way you change a cartridge: Turn the water off that services the faucet. Take the button out of the middle of the handle, remove the screw holding the handle on and remove the handle. There should be three screws showing under where the handle was, unscrew the three screws and lift the cap and the old cartridge. Make sure you look at the old cartridge before taking it apart. Remember exactly how it was put together, put the new cartridge in the same way and then just reverse the procedure.
