Too much hot water in shower

For the past few weeks I have been having a problem with too much hot water in the shower and have had to turn the control all the way over to cold and then after a few seconds it will start getting warmer and thenI can turn it back down to medium. As of this morning the water is very hot and will not cool down at all. Is the cold water getting blocked by crud, do I need a new water heater?? I am also getting hot water out of the cold side of my bathroon vanity sink!!?? Thanks,
Ron

I have the same problem and most people I know do too.
I think it is crud build up in the pipes at least when it is trickling out and no pressure.
I have to put the cold all the way up and then only turn the hot on enough to get it as hot as I want it.
I hope somebody can tell you what you need to do.
