Getting good water volume for long water line run
I am planning to install water line on my farm. The water supply is coming from a 1hp submersible pump that is currently feeding the house with 1" PVC into the pressure tank. I am planning to run about 500" of 1" PVC down to a barn and from there another 1000" of 3/4" line out to some pasture. The barn is about 15' lower in elevation than the house/pump & pastures are about the same height as the well/pump.

I want to be able to have decent water flow when filling water troughs using standard garden hoses. We generally use at most 30-50 gallons of water at a time.

Do you have any suggestions for me before I start? I'll also have 240V power at the barn, so should I plan on adding a booster pump and/or pressure tank?

Personally I would keep it 1 " on the 1,0000 run for volume for the simple reason volume makes up for pressure always. If the pump doesn't preform up to your needs at least the bigger feed line is there. Many times a booster pump is put in and that's gets to be a personal usage call there. Adding that is not like digging up to add bigger lines.

You mentioned PVC , are you referring to well pipe in the rolls?
