Hi everyone,

I use a Brita water filter that you attached to the water tap in the kichten directly. I clean it every 2 months, then this time when I opened the filter, I found 5 cooked-rice-grain-look-alike foreign objects on the screen.

I cleaned them out then had a second thought. How could cooked rice grains get into the water pipe? Is it something that I have to take an action about?

I live in a townhouse complex and sent an email regarding this matter to my management office. What else can I do?

[b]Cue 506 -------------- Sounds like Calcium deposits. Do you have a hot water tank? Check water Temp on thermostat, It may be set to high.

However, we don't have a hot water tank. We had a instant water heater instead.

I ran cold water only and the filter screen caught two white objects. They are not as big as rice grains and looks like a small piece of toilet paper.

I thought Calsium deposits are solid and hard. The foreign objects that I found are soft and white.

Okay, so I ran some COLD water only at downstair washroom sink. I ran it for 3 minutes and found two very very small pieces of white objects. They are less than 3-5mm, long and thin.

I have not tried hot water yet.

to be on the safe side I would not drink the water and or boil it. contact the supplier of the water and save some samples of what you have found

Thank you for your answers. I emailed Toronto water department regarding this matter and I'm waiting for their response.

Debris in water is not uncommon. I would install a whole house water filter just after the main, about $90 at Home Depot. You'd be surprised what you'll find when you change that filter. I would not be too alarmed, calcium can be soft just like scale.
