Faucets, Plumbers Putty, leaking faucet base, Silicon
    Hello,

I installed my faucet base with silicon and now it has a small leak. I am unsure what how to fix it. Should I be using plumbers putty instead of silicon? Is silicon better than plumbers putty? I have been recommended the silicon over the plumbers putty.

The only issue is the base is leaking all other components of the faucet is fine and show no signs of leaking.

The only thing I did is moving the faucet from the old sink to the new sink and I did not dissemble the parts

    Thank you for your help

Your complaint doesn't make it clear just what's leaking. Does water run out of the base when you run the faucet or does it leak past the base when you have standing water around the base? In other words I'm asking if this is a internal leak or a external one. Regards, tom

The leak comes from the base when no water is running. When you run the water there is no leak.

    Thank you for your reply.

Are you saying that you have a steady leak when the faucet's off and it stops when you turn the faucet on?
I think what you're attempting to tell me is that when you have standing water around the base it will leak on through to the cabinet but I have yet to see that explained. Am I correct?: Tom
