Failure to stop a leaking shower faucet
    Hello,
My shower faucet has been leaking lately. I removed the tub spout thinking that it might need replacing. Water was leaking from the copper pipe so I thought that maybe the problem could be with the single handle that regulates the water flow.

I don't really know what type of single handle faucet I have but I got stumped when I tried to took it apart. I removed the handle and the escutcheon plate. I then removed the cartridge by removing 4 screws which connected the cartridge to a pipe or area within the wall.

After removing the cartridge I was able to see two holes where I think the hot and the cold water are regulated. I noticed that the hole on the right was leaking some water. I turned off the main water supply to the house but the WEIRD thing was that both the copper pipe and the right hole was still leaking. I am worried about all the problems that this continued leak could cause.

I wasn't sure what to do next as I did not want to do more harm than good. I was able to put everything back together. The leak still persists.

I tried to explain my problem the best I can with my limited plumbing experience.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    I thank you in advance.

Sounds like it may be a sterling faucet, if so, you need both the cartridge the 4 screws hold od and the part inside the valve body replaced.

I have never changed a faucet before. Do I need to call a plumber? ( We called one who hasn't responded) It seems that today parts are easily replaced , unlike when I was a child when you had to use copper fittings with torches and pipe dope ,etc. I looked at the faucet and saw two screws ....
