Downstairs bathtub fills when draining upstairs bathtub
OK, my old house (1959) with all new plumbing (2008) is having some problems already, when using the upstairs bathtub for the first time, I was shocked when I noticed that my small downstairs bathtub was full of dirty water. And the toilet beside the small downstairs bathtub would only drain slowly and directly into the small bathtub. And water was coming up from the toilet base on the tiled floor.

And to make matters worse I heard the sound of leaking water coming from the basement below my feet. So then I investageted the basement, and major leakage was coming from the main wastepipe running along the wall.. looked like it was coming directly from underneath the new toilet above my head.

So I called our family friend plumber who did all the plumbing work in our house. He said he would come over tomorrow. So we waited and waited then we called him on both his cell and home phone but no luck. And finally he called back late saying he would come over the next day, still a no show.
Now it has been 3 days without him coming up to help. And he only lives about 3 miles away.

Now the downstairs bathtub had drained away the toilet now works when flushed. So...
I thought it might have somehow fixed itself, I filled the upstairs bathtub again, and let it drain after my wife , young son and I had a wash. (dont want to be wastful)
But guess what, same problems, bathtub downstairs filld up with dirty water, toilet would not flush , and a waterfall effect in the basement, and not to forget the water coming up around the toilet base onto the bathroom floor. Please help? What should I do?

What a friend huh. Really 2 possibilities here a partial clog in the main sewer line past the last fixture. Or a vent problem. When is slowly drained did any of the drainage in the top floor bubble ah pop . Was the other plumbing already there and the 3 floor was added. Can use see outside on your roof a vent pipe sticking out by or around the bathroom? When you say all new plumbing what exactly was put in all new in drainage?
