Delta two handle faucet

I have a Delta two handle knob faucet in my bathroom. It had a very irritating leak so I purchased knew knobs and replacement parts at Lowes. I replaced everything down the seats and springs....(except I think what's called the stem)

At first, when I turned the water supply back on, the water was on all the time.... So I rearranged the seats and stems a little bit...and then the water would not turn on at all..So I rearranged again....and now we have just a trickle....

The bottom of the stem on my faucet is kind of in the shape of a 1/4 moon with a round area where I presume the seat and spring is supposed to line up with....

Do you have a diagram of how the seats and springs are supposed to line up? The replacement parts appeared to be the same as the originals. Could that be the problem
