Hi I wonder if any one can help me shed some light on an annoying problem? About a week ago I started hearing a constant dripping and trickling noise in the house, it is quite faint but loud enough to stop you from sleeping every night. I think it's coming from the water tank heater in the airing cupboard in our bedroom, it sounds like water dripping into a bucket and makes the noise all the time whether the heating is on or off. I here it more in the bedroom and at first it sounded like the noise was coming from above or the ceiling but I have checked the two tanks in the loft and can't hear anything dripping from them? I am totally clueless as to the cause as it's never done this before in the 6 years we have lived here. I am worried there's some kind of leak somewhere or something, does anyone have any ideas what it could be? And if it easy to repair? Thanks in advance

Have you checked the T&P valve on the water heater for leakage? Let me know Tom

Hi Tom, thanks for the quick reply, I have just had a look but there is no T&P valve on there? I can hear the water running into the tank but not the actually dripping noise when I stick my head in the airing cupboard, when I sit on the bed it sounds like its coming from above but I can't pinpoint exactly where, which is the most annoying thing about it. Do you think it could be a leaky pipe somewhere?

There's always a T&P valve installed on every water heater. I*f you had a overhead leak you would be seeing wet spots on your ceiling. Check your toilets snd try to pinpoint the sound. It isn't a ticking or tapping sound is it? Good luck, Tom
