    Cold water line clogged
Our washing machine is slow to fill. I checked the filter screens behind the washer where the hoses go in and they are clean. So I checked the valves. The hot water is fine, but hardly anything is coming out of the cold. I took the hose off the valve and sure enough there was a lot of sediment in that screen. I turned on the cold water while the hose was off and still nothing was coming out. I'm assuming there is more sediment somewhere down the pipes. The pipes are copper. Is there anyway to clean these out, or will we have to call a plumber? We have really hard water and we recently changed our hot water heater. When we did, we had a lot of lime come out of the kitchen sink. Thanks for any help :o

You will need to install a water softener to rid your lines of hard water deposits. When we lived in a rural area we had a water softener that used salt pellets.

However, maybe the damage has already been done and you may have to have your lines flushed out to remove the hard water deposits. I would consult with t a plumber to see if you need this, or possibly a water softener will do the trick right of the bat for you.
