Cat-like smell from the powder room
We have found that after flushing our powder room toilet, a terrible cat-like smell eminates from this room. We had the wax seal of the toilet changed and the smell didn't go away. I have scoured the tile on the floors and walls with bleach and boiling water. I think every inch of that room has been cleaned and the smell persists. I have no idea what to do. Any thoughts?

A smell could be the result of several problems. Is there a shower or floor drain in the room? Is the bathroom on an outside wall, near a window or vent? Does the bathroom fan work? Is there evidence of moisture or mildew on any walls or ceiling? Is this bathroom on a main floor or upper floor? Does the smell occur when other fixtures in the room are used? How about when other toilets in the house are flushed? Post more info maybe we can pin it down- -certianly we can eliminate things that it is not.
