I can't remove the leaky spout in my bath tub
The bath tub spout in my bath tub/shower is leaking profusely.
When I shut the valve after my shower the diverter lever drops down but the spout continues dripping at the rate of three drops per second.
I would like to replace the spout but I can't remove it even after reading about it through the site.
The diverter is located near the wall and underneath it there is a large plastic screw into which you can fit a quarter but it does not loosen.
I unfortunately cannot find the brand.
    Can you help me someone?

What makes you think it's the diverter that's causing the leak?

I don't know for sure it's the diverter??
    Could it be the valve?

To remove the spout put a pipe wrench on the spout or in the mouth of the spout and turn counter clouckwise. If you have a drip your problem might be washers and or seats.

You might want to pay mind to ,if it's a plastic spout or a brass spout as well . Some plastic spouts are flanged to the wall first , and then the spout goes on locked by a tab at the bottom near the wall.
