    Can't get new well pump to prime
    Hi!
    Our less than 4 month old well pump lost it's prime, ran until it burned out... So we put in a new pump... this one will not prime... water coming into house is coming in at a very low amount in kitchen... farthest from well... hearing some air and sputter form bathroom spigot... next closest to well... been without water for 2 days... in Florida aargh!! Help please...

    I don't think your problem is one of pump priming. Sounds like the water table has dropped and there is not enough water in the well to pump. Probably why old pump burned up. Time to go deeper, better call the well man.

    Before you give up, bear in mind that there are probably two pipes that go into your well from the pump. One is the suction line. If that line is leaking or broken, then the pump will not draw. Check your pipes. However, HK is correct when he says you might have a dry well. Is your area in drought? Your well is probably fairly shallow, so you should be able to measure the water depth using a string and washer. Lower it down, then pull back up and measure to the wet string. Can be misleading if your well casing is leaking, but worth a try.
