Can I Move My Kitchen Sink/Dishwasher without major expense

Asked Mar 10, 2012, 05:54 PM — 9 Answers
I am planning a kitchen remodel in a condo that is on a concrete slab. I would like to move the dishwasher and sink about 1 foot to the right. The dishwasher is on the left side of the sink. Is this possible without undue expense on a concrete slab? Thank you.

The dishwasher is no big deal from the plumbing end, cabinets might be a pain but plumbing is easy. Now the sink, look under the sink at the drain and supply lines. Is there a foot ofspace between the supply line and the wall of the cabinet?

If the supply line is the one with the copper pipe, there are two feet available to the wall of the cabinet and of course more when I remove the cabinet located to the right of the sink. Does that work?

"there are two feet available " so you need 1 ' so you are good there. Are you kind of sliding the cabinet and counter all to the right 1'?

OK, So now the water's taken care of. For the drainage I would first remove all the fittings between the trap and the stubout, I would come off the stubout with a 45 to pick up the trap. Good luck, Tom

What would be the approximate cost to get this accomplished?
Thanks again.

We can't estimate a job without seeing the workplace. If the cabinet were moved and set and the supplies would reach without having to fuss with them it shouldn't take much over a hour or se to run the trap and install the dishwasher. Good luck, Tom

The plumbing end of this job is fairly easy and quick. Maybe $200 . The cabinet. Move is a bigger deal since each cabinet is connected to the wall as well as the cabinet next to it. Most plumbers would not do this part but a really good handyman might.
