Build a shower base on concrete floor

Hey guys. Newbie to this website, but it looks as though it's my answer. I've got a spare bathroom in the basement that I'm installing a neo-angle shower. The catch is that the builder plumbed the bath with the drain and water inlets coming from the wall for a claw foot tub...no drain in the floor. My options are to bust up the concrete and run the drain through the floor like a traditional setup or build a shower base that gives the shower enough room for the drain/trap. My questions are how high does a base need to be to allow normal drain function and what is a good design to follow for building this base?

Thanks,
Gregg

The height of the base will be determined by the height of the wall stubout. Attach a trap ans raiser to the stubout and that will be the drain elevation. As far as building a base I've never done that. I have never been a big fan of platformed showers. Perhaps one the other experts can jump in and help out. Regards, Tom
